Angling Ireland which has been reeling in crowds to the King’s Hall in Belfast for five years has a new angle for 2010 and beyond.
Visitors to Northern Ireland’s most exciting, action-packed and diverse specialist angling show will now also enjoy complimentary admission into Holiday World, Northern Ireland’s biggest and longest established travel and tourism show, running alongside Angling Ireland in the King’s Hall, Belfast in January.
It’s very much a case of ‘Catch Of The Day’ meets ‘Match Of The Day’ according to Syd McFarland, the man behind Angling Ireland. He says, ‘This is a match made in heaven, for we are - and have always been - very conscious of the need to offer great spectacle and a great teamed with great value for money. Joining forces with Holiday World Belfast allows us to offer a fantastic package to both show-goers and exhibitors. There is fantastic synergy between the events and it means that fanatical anglers can spend their day enjoying demos, advice sessions, speciality shopping and general craic of Angling Ireland while the rest of the family enjoys the Holiday World experience.
“I’m willing to bet that even the most dedicated anglers will find something to whet their appetite at Holiday World, The Caravan & Motorhome Show, and the show-within-a-show, The Belfast Adventure Sports Show. All those opportunities come together to make this a really fantastic day out not only for the angling community, but for their wider families too.”
Many of Holiday World’s ‘mainstream’ exhibitors are already bringing together angling travel packages at home and abroad. Whether it’s a stay-cation weekend angling on the Bann or a dream holiday in pursuit of Marlin off Malibu, it’s likely that Holiday World will be just the ticket. Those travel-to-fish opportunities will be greatly expanded in 2010 with still more exhibitors coming on board for the expanded show format.
The new look Angling Ireland show will run in its new format over Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January with bookings already being taken for stands. The show will encompass everything for the Game, Sea & Coarse Angler, complete with and Indoor Demonstration Casting Pool. Boats, trailers, equipment, and specialist clothing for the sportsman (and woman) will also feature strongly together with the expert yet practical advice which has become synonymous with the event. Following on the success at previous shows, there will be demonstrations and tasting sessions with Chris Sandford, the King of Fish Chefs, from The Chef Centre of Ireland.
Holiday World Show organizer Edmund Hourican, is delighted at the new association and says, “This is about much more than combining Angling Ireland with our ‘package’ of holiday shows. Together with Syd and his team we’ll be consolidating everything that has been so marvelous about Angling Ireland and also looking for ways to develop and grow the event. Angling Ireland is already the number one show of its kind, but we’ll be adding to the package.
“By coming together with Angling Ireland we are offering exhibitors a unique chance to benefit from a synergy of general and specialist interest buyers.
“Certainly recession has made itself felt in travel and tourism as in almost every other but the industry has responded with imagination and even better value. Recession has, famously, reinvigorated the home holiday market and also encouraged many people to think about long term value by investing in a caravan or motorhome. We have also seen a growth of holiday plans linked closely to lifestyle and hobbies - the fishing holiday industry is the perfect example and this specialist area is enjoying a period of exceptional growth. By coming together with the Angling Ireland show Holidayworld we are both meeting the demands of the market and investing in an exciting and developing future.
“Perhaps the best thing about our plans for the 2010 show is that it genuinely has something for everyone and I imagine there will be quite a few families enjoying the fact that dad can wander around the Angling Show to his heart’s content while mum checks out the family holiday options …. or vice versa!”
